Dr. Glenda Savitz is a third generation optometrist. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California Los Angeles where she spent time helping at her cousin’s optometry practice. She decided to combine her passion for helping people and love for science and completed her doctor of optometry degree at the Southern California College of Optometry. She went on to complete an Ocular Disease Residency with the Boston Veterans Affairs Healthcare System and received post-residency training by retinal specialist Jorge Arroyo, MD, MPH, Associate Chief of Ophthalmology Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. She conducted clinical research through the National Institute of Health at the University of California, Berkeley with Dean Dennis Levi, OD, PhD.
As practice manager at EYESPOT, Dr. Savitz focuses on seamlessly connecting opticians, optometrists, ophthalmologists and sub-specialists together using state-of-the-art technology to provide the most advanced primary eye care. She also works closely with primary care practitioners to ensure early detection and management of systemic disease with ocular manifestations. She is passionate about community outreach and actively participates in fundraising for the Global Vision Partnership and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Retinal research fund.
She resides in Newton with her husband and baby and enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time on the Charles River.
