SPOTLIGHT ON THE ANTARES
What is the Antares?
The Antares is a corneal topographer and tear film analyzer. It is the only device that allows video analysis and meibography to identify meibomian gland atrophy.
Is that all?
No :) The Antares also allows eye doctors to perform precision contact lens fittings, tear film analysis and pupillography.
Why is this instrument so important for Dry Eye Analysis?
The Antares provides exact tear break up time measurement allowing your doctor to monitor the efficacy of dry eye treatment. Your doctor can assess the tear film lipid layer (a layer often compromised in Dry Eye Syndrome) and also uses infrared technology to assess for meibomian gland loss. Infrared meibomian gland analysis can help determine if more invasive dry eye intervention will be successful.
