Use the links at the top of the page (the Nav) to go to different areas of the site. Most of the big images you see are links to videos that you can watch- just click on the image and you'll go to a page where the video will play. If you see links on the right of the page (the Sidebar, they are used to control what you see on the left (the Videopane).
There are lots of ways to find video to watch- the best way depends on what you're looking for. Click on Explore in the Nav to browse videos from all Eyespot users. You can see the Most Popular, Most Recent, and more. If you're looking for something in particular, you can use the Search tool, or go to Groups, where people post their videos by theme or genre. If you want to see all the videos from one particular person, click anywhere that person's user name is shown.

You won't need an Eyespot account if you just want to watch and share other people's videos. You'll need an account if you want to use Mixables, Upload your own video, Mix video, save your Favorites, or use any other feature on the site where we need to distinguish you from everyone else. Signing up is easy and free, so give it a shot.

Use the Search tool at the top of Eyespot pages to find any video on the site. We sort results by Tags, Titles and Group & Blog names.

You'll need a modern web browser, like Firefox, with the Flash plug-in installed and cookies on. If you're reading this, there's a good chance that you already have everything you need.
Sure! Just keep in mind that you can only have one account per email address.
Eyespot uses your email address as one of the unique identifiers that help us to distinguish you from other people. Eyespot will infrequently email registered users to let them know about new Eyespot features, contests and the like, all in accordance with our posted Terms of Use.

Once you've logged in to Eyespot, click the My Spot link on the left side of the Nav, then the Settings tab on the resulting page. Update your settings, then click the Submit button at the bottom of the page.
It is currently not possible to change your My Spot account name.
Try searching for videos that you might have uploaded- if you can find a video that you uploaded, you'll see the username of the person who posted it. If all else fails, sign up for a new account and just keep in mind that you'll need to use a different email address than the one you used before.
Perhaps the photo you uploaded was not a supported format, or maybe the resolution was too high? You should upload a JPEG or PNG file with resolution not higher than 200 x 200px.
It is currently not possible to permanently delete your My Spot account, as we reserve each new username once established. However, you can delete everything else, including all of the content you uploaded, the email address we have for you, and all of your account Settings.

Eyespot accepts most types of video, audio, and picture files. Supported video formats include various flavors of Windows Media (wmv, avi, asf), QuickTime (mov, qt), MPEG (mpg, mp4, vob), Real (rm), Mobile (3gp, 3g2), DV (dv), Flash (flv). Supported image formats include JPEG, GIF, BMP and PNG. Supported audio formats include MP3, Real (rm), AIFF & WAV (from CDs), MP4/AAC, WMA. Please note that you can't use DRM'd or otherwise encrypted files; we don't have the keys to unlock them.
The best way is to use a program that will capture video to your computer as separate clips. Keep in mind that Eyespot allows you to upload files up to 100MB in size. A 1-hour Mini-DV tape is 13 gigabytes, so it's best to find a good way to cut them up into clips. Smaller clips can be uploaded individually. If they're too big, you can try to reduce their size with compression.
Once your video upload is complete, there will be a short processing delay before you'll see your video in My Spot. Videos with longer total playing time of the video will take longer to process.
Encoding AAC at less than 4.1 kHz will do that, plus other types of output settings, will not process correctly. You should also double-check that you've got the volume turned up =)

Eyespot is a community-based website, where individual users create accounts and upload video to them; most of the video is owned by our community members. In the case of Mixables, media is usually provided by Eyespot's partners.
Eyespot allows its users to Flag any video that is found to be highly inappropriate. If enough people Flag a video, it is removed from public view across the site.
Mixables are collections of files (video, picture and audio) that can be loaded in to your account all at once. They contain video, audio, images, or any combination thereof. A Mixable is usually provided by an Eyespot partner, so that you can check out their stuff and mix it together with other people's stuff, including your own.
As many as you want! There is no limit.
No! You can remix and combine the thousands of videos from other Eyespot users without ever uploading a thing! Start with a Remix, add a Mixable, or use Search from within the mixer to find source video for your remix.
You can use any video that's publicly available on Eyespot. You can even search for other people's videos right from the Mixer using the Search tab.
The Remix button next to any video will launch the Mixer with all the clips and music from the existing mix laid out in the timeline, as they were when the mix was originally made. From there you can quickly create a new mix based on the original, letting you stand on the shoulders of mixing giants, and collaborate on mixing projects.
Videos are files that you upload to Eyespot. Trims are new versions of any videos that were shortened using the Trimmer. Mixes are video mixes that you've created using any combination of video, images and audio on Eyespot.
Simply drag the Video thumbnails from the top section of the Mixer to the Timeline spaces (Tracks) at the bottom under the grey bar. The order you place them in the timeline is the order in which they will appear in your mix. Use the links above the Mixer to find other things to add to your mix. If you want to remove a video from the timeline, drag it out. If you would like to re-arrange your videos in the timeline, drag them sideways.
Of course! When you're in the Mixer, drag the desired effect onto a video in the Timeline. You will notice the gray "FX" indicator beneath the Clip turn yellow, displaying the effect you have chosen. To remove the effect from it's video, click on the yellow "FX" indicator. It will turn back to gray, or no effect.
Easy! Find the video in your Mixer, then drag it from the right side of the screen in to the Player window. Trim controls will show up in the Player, which allow you to set new start and end points for your video. If you want to cut footage from the middle of a video, trim and save the first part out, then re-open the file to trim and save the second part out.

When I "Email this Video an email to a Friend", what gets sent? Your friend will receive an email from "eyespot_share@eyespot.com" with the subject "[username] sent you a video from eyespot.com!". The message will be in html format, containing your custom message, the video thumbnail, a link to Eyespot, and a Permalink to the video on Eyespot. If you want to send the video as an attachment, download the video, then send it as an attachment from your email client.
It depends on several factors, but usually emails are delivered in less than ten minutes. No promises though.
Videos marked private will not be displayed in public areas of the site unless you actively Share it. Your Private video can be viewed in your My Spot account, and if you want to share it, you can still send a Permalink, use the Embed code, post it in your Blog, or sent via Send email to Friend.
Roll your mouse over any video playing on Eyespot, then click the Share button. Click the Embed tab and copy the Embed Code. You can paste the Embed Code in to any web page code that allows Embeds. When you view the resulting web page, voila, you will see the Eyespot player, just as it appears on Eyespot. People commonly paste Embed Code in to blog posts, personal pages, and web page source code.
A Permalink is a web link (URL) that you can distribute without fear that the link will change. To share a video, just copy the URL from your browser, or click the Share link on any video, select the Embed tab, and copy code in the Permalink box. FYI, Permalinks should be used because other links in a dynamic website are subject to change over time.

Eyespot automatically publishes user blogs in RSS as well as site-wide feeds for recent mixes, group posts and more. Just look for the orange RSS icon anywhere collections of video are listed. To learn more about RSS feeds, please see http://en.wikipedia.org-RSS
Back to top ↑
Eyespot users create groups, giving everyone a place to list all the videos on a particular subject or theme. Groups can also be used to create RSS and MobileCast feeds that anyone can subscribe to.

Click the "Post to Eyespot Groups" link in the green Publish box next to any page where video is played on Eyespot.

The time varies because a couple things happen when you click Download. First a high quality version of the video is rendered, then our email system sends you a note telling you where to find the video that is now ready for download. Each of these steps can take a variable amount of time, but usually the whole process takes less than 10 minutes. No promises, though.
Each public clip or mix can be downloaded in a number of formats. Those include Mac (QuickTime), PC (Windows Media), iPod (MPEG-4), PSP (very similar to iPod), and DivX. They're all 640x480 except iPod and PSP, which are 320x240.
We don't currently have a messaging / mail system, so the best way is to leave a comment in their clip, mix, Blog, or group. A messenger is on our wish list too.
If you put appropriate tags on your video, it will be easier for other people to find your video. Likewise, if other people tag their videos, it will be easier for you to find them. It's a community spirit thing, and the easier it is to find the stuff you're looking for, the better all of our mixes will be.
